Stage One: Preparing the Room

So, before I could dive into anything fun I needed to clean out this bitch of a room which was dumping ground for every ones things! Before it was a my room/future guest bedroom it was my Nana’s, then it was an office, and then it was a junk room!

So, here is the room when I entered it.

so much fun, right? junk junk junk!

rocky helps!

I put together storage boxes from Ikea and these were part of the instructions!

I cannot wait to change the wardrobe!

just another angle!

those are all I have for now!

Room Measurements!

Needed for future refrencing, here they are! I just cleaned out the entire room today I’ll be posting photos after this! it took me forever, but its done so now I can get on to the fun and dangerous stuff! I think first will be painting cause you’ll see the green color isn’t too grand!

Wall “Albus” - 97.5 Inches
“Bathilda” Book Shelves - 32 Inches
Wall “Crookshanks” - 99 Inches
Wall “Diggory” (Including Dresser Space) - 155 Inches
“Weasley WIndow” = 72 Inches
Dresser +’Flitwick’ Wall = 103 Inches
“Flitwick” Wall + “Dursley” Door to Wall “Albus” = 53 Inches

please excuse the Potter lingo, I figured it’d make it more interesting then Wall A, or Wall 1

I also cut my hand on the tape mesaurer - really excited for when I have to use a saw!

Project Number One: Make a Swanky Bookcase from Old Drawers

I think I need to start small so I might try this first! It seems fairly simple enough to tackle. I’m currently not in the room (or country where the room is located) which, of course creates some issues. I’ll be in the room in two weeks time and I’ll post photos and the measurements I’m dealing with.

I do really like this idea, and I think for a first project I could make it work.

I have a room. In this room is a bed, and one big ass ugly dresser - that’s all. My project for the upcoming year is to completely redo this room and turn it into something decent. I’m a student just out of University and as of right now I don’t have a job but I will in the next coming weeks. so there is a definite issue of money why I’m going down the route of DIY instead of buying a bunch of shit at some smancy furniture store.

if there is one quality I would ultimately have to use to define myself it would have to be clumsy. I am a total spaz anyone I know can vouch for me on that. I’ve never had an artistic flair, and to be honest I’m pretty crap at a lot of things.

so, this is the clumsy hands project I want to see if I can do it all myself and make this dreadful room into something that I’m going to love!

I’ll be posting pictures/updates, things I’ve done, ideas I’ve found, etc, etc.
